Scandinavian Two-Storey Residence – Mr. S
Located in Surabaya, this private residence was designed for Mr. S on a 9.5 × 16-meter plot, embracing a contemporary Scandinavian architectural concept that balances simplicity, functionality, and timeless aesthetics.
The exterior showcases a clean geometric composition with a distinctive pitched roof, complemented by natural wood textures, neutral color palettes, and expansive glazing that maximizes daylight while strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The minimalist façade reflects the essence of Scandinavian architecture—elegant, warm, and highly functional.
The ground floor is planned to encourage family interaction through an open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area, creating a spacious and welcoming environment. Large sliding glass doors enhance natural ventilation while providing visual continuity to the landscaped front garden.
On the upper floor, private spaces are designed to maximize comfort, privacy, and natural lighting. High ceilings beneath the pitched roof create an airy atmosphere, while the generous window openings allow sunlight to illuminate the interiors throughout the day.
The interior design follows a modern Scandinavian approach, combining warm wood finishes, neutral-toned cabinetry, natural stone textures, and soft ambient lighting. Every space is carefully curated to achieve a balance between aesthetics and practicality, resulting in a home that feels both luxurious and comfortable for everyday living.
This project demonstrates how contemporary Scandinavian architecture can transform a compact urban site into a bright, elegant, and highly livable family home.
